Piet Mondrian is an artist who helped form the art movement called De Stijl (The Style).
He simplified the elements of his paintings to reflect what he saw as the spiritual order underneath the visible world.
These elements were lines, shape, and primary colors. They were the building blocks of all his creations.
Mondrian was an abstract artist, because his images did not show people or things.
